LOCAL COVID-19 UPDATE

Published: 22 January 2021

KEEP FOLLOWING THE LOCKDOWN RULES TO KEEP PROTECTING YOURSELVES, YOUR FAMILIES, YOUR COMMUNITY, AND THE NHS!

It is positive to see that there appears to be some reduction in infections in the New Romney area but we must all continue to keep following the rules to try to stop it spreading, especially as the new strain is so virulent.

Last week in New Romney, there were 41 confirmed cases which equates to 555.4 cases per 100,00 people - still above the national average (source: https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/interactive-map).

It is still vitally important that we all follow the Lockdown rules https://www.gov.uk/guidance/national-lockdown-stay-at-home , to try to halt the spread, and also to protect our hospitals from getting overwhelmed. Stay at home if you can, but if you do have to go out, practice social distancing, handwashing and wearing your mask. Do your bit, and get tested, if you leave the house for work or essential activities, even if you are symptom free https://www.kent.gov.uk/.../test.../symptom-free-testing... so that you don't unknowingly spread it in the community.

Vaccinations are now being rolled out to designated groups - please follow the link if you receive a text message to book. If you are or know of anybody over 80 or in 75-80 age bracket that has not been contacted please support them to contact the surgery to book an appointment asap.
