New Romney Town Council – Press Release
Issued: 22nd March 2021
St Martin’s Field protection underway!

New Romney Town Council is pleased to confirm that the project to protect St Martin’s Field, in New Romney, for the enjoyment of the community, came to fruition last week as the installation of bespoke metal bollards, in the Town colours of black and gold, began.

New Romney Town Council would like to formally convey its thanks to Town Council Officers for the hard work and commitment that has been put into keeping this project moving and ensuring that it has successfully come to fruition. The progression of this important project has been entirely overseen by Town Council Officers and, despite the additional difficulties caused by the global coronavirus pandemic, meaning that council officers have been working from home and with limited resources, the £30,000 project has, nevertheless, been delivered in a timely manner.

The Town Council would also like to thank local company, WeWeld Services Ltd, based in Old Romney, for the manufacture and installation of the bollards.

It is now hoped that St Martins Field will flourish as a space for the local community to relax and enjoy, free from unauthorised vehicular access and incidents of anti-social behaviour.

It is expected that the works to install the bollards will be fully completed by mid-April 2021 and, potentially, sooner.
