Temporary Closures – Cockreed Lane, New Romney – from 19 April 2021

We have been informed that it will be necessary to close sections of Cockreed Lane, New Romney currently planned from Monday 19 April 2021.
Cockreed Lane will be closed in phases, as shown below.
The overall alternative route for through traffic is via St Mary’s Road, A259 Dymchurch Road, High Street and Ashford Road
PHASE 1 – COCKREED LANE closed between the junction with Bramley Lane and a point west of the junction with Pearmain Way
Continuous closure from Monday 19 April 2021 for up to 2 weeks
It will not be possible to re-open the road outside the working hours.
PEARMAIN WAY will be closed at the junction with Cockreed Lane; access to the remainder of Pearmain Way continues via Rolfe Lane, Crispin Close and an un-named new road.
PHASE 2 – COCKREED LANE closed from and including the junctions with Rolfe Lane and Bramley Way
Daytime closure planned for Tuesday 4 May 2021, between 08:00 hours and approximately 18:00 hours
PHASE 3 – COCKREED LANE closed from and including the junction with Rolfe Lane extending westwards to a point west of the junction with Pearmain Way
Daytime closure planned for Wednesday 5 May 2021 for final resurfacing; the road will be re-opened once the surface is suitable.
ROLFE LANE will be closed at the junction with Cockreed Lane during Phases 2 & 3; access to the remainder of Rolfe Lane continues from Ashford Road
BRAMLEY LANE will be closed at the junction with Cockreed Lane during Phases 2 & 3; on-site arrangements will be in place for residents, with emergency access maintained at all times
Local access to the remainder of Cockreed Lane continues from either direction up to where the road is actually closed.
Personnel will be on site to allow managed access for residents when it is safe to do so, but there are likely to be delays and certain times when this is not possible for safety reasons.
The closures are to enable essential carriageway resurfacing works to be carried out in connection with a housing development, being carried out by Walker Construction Ltd.
The planned dates and duration may change for various reasons including the current coronavirus situation and adverse weather conditions, with any changes signposted on site and notified locally.
