Road Closure

Published: 03 August 2021

To allow works to be carried out to provide new water connections to a new development, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Ashford Road, New Romney.

A phased closure is currently planned from Tuesday 3 August 2021, with estimated completion by 16 August 2021.

Ashford Road will be closed between the junctions with Rolfe Lane and Cockreed Lane, to the actual extent shown on site.

The alternative route for through traffic is via A259 High Street, Dymchurch Road, St Mary’s Road and Cockreed Lane.

Rolfe Lane will be closed at the junction with Ashford Road at certain times as the works progress, with access to the remainder of the road continuing from Cockreed Lane direction.

Due to the nature of the works, it will not be possible to re-open the road outside the working hours. The planned dates and duration may change for various reasons including the current coronavirus situation and adverse weather conditions, with any changes signposted on site and notified locally.
