Commenting on his appointment, Councillor Thomas said:
"I am immensely proud and honoured to be elected Mayor of New Romney for the fourth consecutive year. The last two years have been immensely difficult for everyone but we are now on the road to recovery. I am looking forward to the delivery of a number of key Council projects, including the new Community Hall, Sports Pavilion and Nursery Project.
With the support of my Mayoress Janet, we have decided on the three charities we are going to support this year. They are:
Sunflower Memory Café (New Romney)
C.A.R.M. (Caring Altogether on Romney Marsh)
JAM on the Marsh
Let's look forward to a bright and exciting future".
During the meeting the newly appointed Town Mayor made a presentation to Tayo Bella, of New Romney Pharmacy of a KALC (Kent Association of Local Councils) Community Awards Scheme certificate, in recognition of the support that he has given to the local community during the pandemic.
