Scam Call Impersonating HM Government

From KCC Protect - A Kent resident was targeted by a scam rebate call, claiming the Government is offering a £3,000 rebate (although it was not specified to the resident what this rebate was in respect of). The caller knew the residents name and details which led the victim to believe it was genuine.

However it was a SCAM. Government Departments will never cold call you with offers of rebates.

If you get cold calls like this, remember to think ABC and do no Assume or Believe that it is genuine but Always Confirm.

NHS Covid Test Kit Scams

The NHS are issuing warnings about fake text messages instructing people to order testing kits, as a result of being in close contact with someone who recently tested positive for Covid. Below is an example of the type of messages that people have been receiving.

These texts will ask you to click on a link which will take you to a convincing website requesting your bank card details in order to pay a ‘delivery fee’.

They are a SCAM that are designed to steal your payment card details.

The NHS will never contact you in this way or ask for your bank details.

If you need to get a PCR test, visit the official GOV.UK site to find out more details.

You can forward suspicious text messages to 7726.
