Notice of Election

Election of councillors for New Romney Coast Ward of New Romney Town Council

1. An Election is to be held of 1 Councillor for New Romney Coast Ward of New Romney Town Council.

2. Forms of nomination for this election may be obtained from the Returning Officer at Folkestone & Hythe District Council, Civic Centre, Castle Hill Avenue, Folkestone, CT20 2QY who will, at the request of an elector for any electoral area prepare a nomination paper for signature.

3. Completed nomination papers must be delivered to the Customer Access Point, Main Reception, Folkestone & Hythe District Council, Civic Centre, Castle Hill Avenue, Folkestone, CT20 2QY, on any weekday after the date of this notice between 10am and 4pm (excluding bank holidays) but no later than 4pm on Friday, 23 September 2022.

4. If any election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday, 20 October 2022.

5. Applications to vote by post must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Folkestone & Hythe District Council, Civic Centre, Castle Hill Avenue, Folkestone, CT20 2QY by 5pm on Wednesday, 5 October 2022 if they are to be in effect for this election. This includes electors or their proxies who wish to make alterations to their existing arrangements on a permanent basis or who wish to make a separate application for their ballot paper to be sent to a different address for this particular election.

6. New applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Folkestone & Hythe District Council, Civic Centre, Castle Hill Avenue, Folkestone, CT20 2QY by 5pm on Wednesday, 12 October 2022.

7. Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on grounds of unforeseen physical incapacity or for unforeseen work/service reasons must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Thursday, 20 October 2022. The physical incapacity must have occurred after 5pm on Wednesday, 12 October 2022. To apply on the grounds of work/service, the person must have become aware that they cannot go to the polling station in person after 5pm on Wednesday, 12 October 2022.
