We have received the following update from SGN regarding the above gas works:
Thursday 4 May - Station Road, New Romney
Our
urgent work to replace and repair our gas network in the Station Road area of New Romney is ongoing. Due to unforeseen engineering difficulties and a large number of holes that need filling and resurfacing, our work is now expected to end on Friday 12 May.
Our engineers have replaced a 17-metre section of affected pipe which was in too poor a condition to repair and we're now carrying out some final repairs in Dymchurch Road. Once finished, we’ll work to restore the road surface around our site to its original condition.
Temporary traffic lights remain in operation to ensure everyone’s continued safety around our work area. These lights are being manually controlled between 7am and 7pm to manage traffic flow.
To avoid returning at a later date and help minimise future disruption to the community, our engineers also decommissioned a nearby redundant, unmapped old pipe after it was identified last week.
We understand roadworks can be frustrating and we'd like to thank road users, residents and businesses for your ongoing patience and understanding while we carry out this essential work to keep everyone safe and warm.
