A259 Brenzett to Rye – overnight closures for resurfacing update

Due to unsuitable weather, National Highways were unable to complete their resurfacing of the A259 between Brenzett and Rye as planned. They’ll soon be returning to finish this essential work.

They’ve also been using the closures to take the opportunity to replace and improve the road signs and markings along the road.

They’ll continue to work in stages, starting on the evening of Monday 4 December.

To minimise disruption, they’ll work on weeknights between the hours of 8pm and 6am only, when there are fewer vehicles on the road. During the day they will keep the road open as usual.

Closure information

  • Monday 4 & Tuesday 5 December: the A259 Brenzett Roundabout will be fully closed from 9pm to 6am each night.

During this closure, a diversion will be in place going in both directions via A2070, M20, A261, A259, B2075, Lydd Road and Camber Road. Non-motorway traffic should use the A20 instead of the M20.

  • Monday 11 to Friday 15 December: the A259 will be closed at its junction with Camber Road and west to where it passes over the River Rother, from 9pm to 6am each night.

During these closures, a diversion will be in place going in both directions via A2070, A292, A28, A262, A229 and A268.

Please note that these works are subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. They’ll post details of any changes or additional closures on our webpage: nationalhighways.co.uk/se-maintenance.

Access for businesses and residents

For businesses and residents within the closure area, access will be maintained to your properties. Please approach the closure point for an escort. This is for access only.
