New Romney Town Council Annual Statutory Meeting and Mayor Making
Published: 16 May 2024
We are pleased to announce that, on Monday evening, at the New Romney Town Council Annual Statutory Meeting and Mayor Making, Councillor John Rivers was elected for a second term to the position of The Right Worshipful the Mayor of New Romney and Chairman of New Romney Town Council. Councillor Peter Coe will hold the position of Deputy Chair and Deputy Mayor.
Following the voting and Council business, Ann Bidwell from The Old School Trust gave a short but fascinating talk on the potted history of New Romney from King Offa to Queen Victoria, which was very well received. The invited guests including other Cinque Ports Mayors then retired to the Assembly Rooms for a buffet reception.
