New Romney D-Day Commemoration

New Romney Town Council are hosting a series of special Community events, to commemorate 80 years since the D-Day landings. On Thursday, 6th June all around the world people will be remembering the largest sea, land and air operation in history, which took place just over the water from our own coastline.

 New Romney D Day Programme of Events:

 

  •  8.00am - D Day 80 Proclamation, read by he Right Worshipful the Mayor of New Romney, on the Memorial Garden, Church Approach, New Romney
  • 11.00am - Pupils from St Nicholas CE Primary Academy and The Marsh Academy read the D-Day 80 Poem for Schools - 'D-Day Heroes', on the Memorial Garden, Church Approach, New Romney
  • 7.30pm onwards - D Day 80 Commemoration event on The Greens, Littlestone, including:

 

- Reenactors and military vehicles from 7.30pm

- Pipe Band

- Fish and Chips, for National Fish and Chip Day

- Commemoration ceremony with music and words from 8.40pm

- National Beacon Lighting at 9.15pm
