A message from our local PC

Published: 22 October 2024

"Afternoon all.
I'm very grateful to a beady eyed Greatstone resident who contacted me a short while ago informing me about a young chap trying to sell items from a large holdall after knocking at their door.
As a result I've attended the area and located two males in Seaview Road and discovered that they didn't have a pedlar's licence so were told to cease what they were doing and to leave the area.
One of them was subject to a search under Section 23 Misuse of Drugs act and a small amount of Cannabis was found on him for which he will be dealt with.
Having possession of Cannabis is illegal as you know and in addition to this he didn't have a pedlar's licence to trade therefore this highlights my previous warnings about a lot of door to door sellers, please don't buy off of them or even answer the door as this will help to deter them from returning.
If you do answer the door and are interested in what they have to sell, please check that they have a bonafide pedlar's licence and even if they have and you're still not sure, politely decline.
Please encourage others to sign up to My Community Voice/Kent for crime prevention advice like this and other local policing information.
On another note but on the subject of door knocking/bell ringing by kids who then run away, there was a post on The Real Marsh Watch Facebook group yesterday regarding this happening in Lydd and I'd like the person who is subject to this to contact me please so that i can try and bring a stop to it.
My email is 13183@kent.police.uk
Thank you."
