Temporary Road Closures – Dover, Folkestone & Hythe and Thanet – from 1st April 2025 for up to 9 months
Because of a program of carriageway patching and preservation works, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on Various Roads, Dover, Folkestone and Hythe and Thanet, as per the schedule below.
This Order takes effect on or after 1st April 2025 for a period of up to 9 months or until the works have been completed. Planned dates will be published in advance of the works and indicated by signage displayed on site 14 days before they start. Road closures and other restrictions will be in effect when the appropriate signage and barriers are in place.
SCHEDULE
A256 TILMANSTONE BYPASS, EASTRY
Road Closed from the A2 Interchange to Richborough Roundabout
Alternative Route via A2 Dover Road, A28 Wincheap, A28 Military Road, A28 Sturry Road, A28 Mill Road, A28 Island Road, A28 Canterbury Road, A299 Thanet Way, A299 Hengist Way and vice versa.
A260 SPITFIRE WAY, HAWKINGE

Road Closed from Swan Way to Whitehorse Hill
Alternative route will be via Aerodrome Road, Canterbury Road, White Horse Hill and vice versa.
B2011 DOVER HILL, FOLKESTONE

Road Closed from Canterbury Road roundabout to B2011 Dover Hill
Alternative Route via New Dover Road onto Folkstone Road, A20 then on to A260 Canterbury Road and vice versa.

Alternative route will be via B2190 - B2050 Spitfire Way – B2050 Manston Road - A256 Haine Road.

Road Closed from Sevenscore Roundabout to Ebbsfleet Roundabout
Alternative route will be via Sandwich Road & A299 Hengist Way.
***SUSPENSION OF 7.5 TONNE WEIGHT LIMIT ON SANDWICH ROAD***
To be live in conjunction with the road closure of A256 Richborough Way, Ramsgate. This will only apply when the road closure is operational.
A299 THANET WAY, ST NICHOLAS AT WADE
Road Closed from St Nicholas at Wade Roundabout to Monkton Roundabout
Alternative route via
(London bound) will be A253 towards Sarre then onto the A28
towards Margate then re-join the A299 London bound.
(coastbound) will be A28 towards Sarre then on to the A253 towards Monkton to re-join the A299 coastbound.
