Commonwealth Day in New Romney 2025

New Romney Town Council was delighted to welcome Parishioners and Visitors alike to it's annual Commonwealth Day Ceremony, held this morning in St Nicholas Church. With participation from St Nicholas School, Greatstone School and The Marsh Academy pupils, the ceremony was lead by the Right Worshipful the Mayor of New Romney Cllr John Rivers. A short address was given by Penny Lowe, LMM for the Romney Marsh Benefice. The Hythe Town Concert Band assisted the proceedings by playing the Commonwealth Anthem while the Commonwealth flag was processed, by school pupils and members of the Royal British Legion, to the front of the church, followed by the National Anthem and some stirring incidental music.

With the 2025 theme of 'Together We Thrive', New Romney was pleased to play it's part in the National Celebration of this unique brethren of 56 countries. #CommonwealthDay
