Celebration of St Nicholas Church Clock

Published: 25 March 2026

Tonight (Wednesday 25th March) at 6pm the bells of St Nicholas Church will be rung in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the installation of the church clock.

100 years ago on the 25th of March 1926 a full peal was rung on New Romney octave  of bells in just over 3 hours to commemorate the clock's 100th birthday.

This year arrangements have been made to repeat this and from around 5.45 -6pm till around 9pm the bells will sound non stop for around 3 hours in an full peal attempt of over 5000 changes on the bells, in celebration of the clock of New Romney having its bicentenary this year.
